Litwinenko (aka Preed) is the first to release a solo EP on Detroit Underground, presenting four tracks by the former Icehockey player. Influenced from Acid (One-Timer) to Minimal Techno (Tripping, Roughing, Holding) backed up by his signature IDM-Electro sound (Faceoff, Special Dump’n’Chase), he cuts it just as smooth on wax as on the ice. Mit Krazy Baldhead vom Pariser Label Ed Banger und Yuksek ebenfalls aus Paris und auf Relish Recordings zu finden, kommen zwei der geilsten Liveacts dieser Tage in die Maria. Ed Banger wird ja schon seit längerer Zeit als eines der Innovativsten Label dieser Tage gefeiert aber Relish mit Releases von Headman, David Gilmore Girls und eben Yuksek steht demübergroßen Namen von Ed Banger natürlich in nichts nach.

Wer von den beiden hyperfunktionale Soundtracks zum Sekt-über-die-Birne-Kippen erwartet, ist überrascht, wie vielschichtig und referenziell die Künstler mit Gaga-Namen wie Krazy Baldhead oder Yuksek trotz aller vordergründigen Gags und Gimmicks klingen. Die Stimmung wechselt zwischen hysterischen und entspannten, stickigen und luftigen Phasen. Und in den Ritzen der bassbrummenden Comic-Ästhetik finden sich allerlei pophistorische Spurenelemente: Europe-Synthies, Bon-Jovi-Schweinerock,Acid-Geblubber, zerhackte Disco-Streicher, fiese Funkrock-Slap-Bässe,Run DMC, Kompakt-Schaffel. Yuksek spielt natürlich ebensowenig wie Krazy Baldhead nur irgendein Live-Set, denn hier werden Vintage Syntheziser, analoge Verstärker und dergleichen mehr aufgefahren. Nach seiner Maxi Dry Guillotine erwarten wir gespannt sein erstes Longpayer Album das im Herbst diesen Jahres erscheinen wird.

Die beiden Berliner Phon.o vom angesehenen Electro-Label Shitakatapult
und die frühere Hälfte von Funkstörung Chris de Luca sollten allen Party Freunden für ihre ausufernden Live-Sets ebenfalls hinlänglich bekannt sein. Abrunden werden diesen Wahnsinns Abend Party Grant Shir Kahn unddie wie immer unvergleichliche Suzi Wong.

How would you describe your sound?

"It’s always tricky to say, especially when you are not into a well defined musical genre. Most of the time it’s seen as an Electronica/Hip-hop mixture. But now it’s more and more electronic and progressive.
What’s come first is the aggressive sound, with distortion and fully loaded soundscapes, but the most important aspect to me is the work on melodies and “movements�, I don’t really like linear music.
I guess we can say that my music is dark, well it depends on your personal scale. I think it’s moving. I’m seeking emotion in music in general."

IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS THIS HOT SHIT! BE THERE!

Tadd Mullinix resurrects his James T. Cotton guise for the infectious Oochie Coo, and heads directly to rump-shaking territory. Over crashing hi-hats, stuttering snare snaps, and a bouncing bass groove, Mullinix lays down some schmoooove talk to his lady while the track percolates into a frenzy. Tip: the louder you play this, the better it sounds, and the more you play it, the more infectious it is. On the flip, My Zel is a fairly unremarkable, mid-tempo analog shaker with sizzling cymbals and big tom-toms pushing the rhythm, but 2AM/FMs remix of T-Y-O-C Painkillers strips the original down and sells the parts, resulting in a throbbing head-nodder in the classic Trax/acid house style. Another winner from the Ghostly/Spectral camp.
